Dawn Scarfe - Canopy

Canopy

Complementing the organic form of the ‘bulrush’ umbrellas, this piece uses sounds from a forest canopy. The shifting sonic texture evokes the detail of leaves blowing in the wind as well as more diffuse gusts in distant tree-tops. The porous structure of the sound alternately masks and reveals the ambient sound of the square.

Dawn Scarfe has recently been sleeping in the woods as ‘Embedded’ Artist in Residence with The Forestry Commission England and Sound and Music.
